Indian equity markets snapped a five-day losing streak on Tuesday, with both benchmarks opening higher and the IT sector leading the rebound. The Nifty crossed 23,500, opening at 23,576.15 versus 23,398.10 the prior close, while the Sensex opened at 75,369.63 compared with 74,781.76. Early trading had the Sensex up about 228.98 points to around 75,010.74 (+0.31%), and the Nifty gaining roughly 59.85 points to 23,457.95 (+0.26%). Nifty IT rose more than 4%. Gains came from HCL Tech, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Wipro, HDFC Bank and ITC, while BEL, Grasim, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid, Titan, NTPC, ICICI Bank and Cipla lagged. The rebound persisted despite elevated crude and bond yields.
