Inside Arsenal's transfer window: Attacking plans unresolved, Berta in spotlight, financial situation

After Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Mikel Arteta set an ambitious tone for the summer: “reach another level” with speed and smart action. With the transfer window now closed, the club did strengthen, but the degree is disputed. Arsenal made four first-team signings—plus a permanent deal for Piero Hincapie after his loan, for about €40 million. They also signed forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for €40 million, captured Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle (about £75m), and brought in centre-back Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa (initial £51m).
