JLR investment a 'vote of confidence' for region

A leader in the region described Jaguar Land Rover’s move to produce a fully electric model as a “real vote of confidence” for the Midlands. JLR announced the shift as part of a broader electrification plan, including large-scale upgrades at its sites. The company will support the change with new battery and electric drive unit production lines and will provide training to around 9,000 employees in Solihull and another 1,500 in Wolverhampton. Raj Kandola, chief executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, said that an anchor company like JLR investing at that scale is a strong signal of commitment to the area.
