Late sales build but trade split on UK heatwave impact
Late sales held up on UK heatwave effects, with travel agents reporting strong demand despite a split in how the weather influenced bookings. In the week’s updates, Advantage Travel Partnership said sales in June were up 5% versus the prior week, while The Travel Network Group described trading as slightly softer due to weather and sporting events, though noting heatwaves usually cause only temporary disruption. Multiple operators reported resilient underlying demand, especially for late summer and beyond, with long-haul interest described as stable and more than 50% of bookings expected within the next nine weeks. Premier Travel pointed to Greece, Egypt and Turkey seeing significant increases and last-minute bookings. Blue Bay Travel expected a quick rebound for Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus and Malta but warned departures may be value-led. Shareholders discussions and tour operator pricing competition were also highlighted for late-summer 2027.
