Ledger Finally Adds Private Zcash Balances: Will It Extend ZEC Rally? | Market Editor's Pick
Ledger has added support for private Zcash (ZEC) balances directly in its desktop Ledger Wallet, allowing holders to keep shielded funds without using a separate third-party app. The rollout arrives as ZEC trades 84% higher than a month ago, though it was about $1,516 at the time of writing, down nearly 3% over 24 hours. Zcash offers transparent and private (shielded) balances, and a single account can now hold both, with private funds only appearing in Ironwood, the privacy pool launched in July after a flaw was found in the previous pool. Ledger’s CTO says private data remains on the user’s computer. Private ZEC can’t be swapped without becoming public, and the original Nano S can’t run the feature. Zondax’s older app will be pulled on November 5.
