Maine home prices rose in September despite sales slump

Home prices in Maine rose in September even as sales continued to slump. Buyers closed deals on 1,526 homes last month, down 4.2% from 1,592 in September 2025, according to the Maine Association of Realtors. Still, the median sales price climbed 2.6% year over year to $415,000 after weaker results in August, when it fell 10% year over year. Realtors said July was unusually strong, with listings topping 6,200 for the first time since December 2019 and 77 daily sales. Association president Judy Oberg linked the slowdown to seasonality and higher inflation and mortgage rates.
