Man who allegedly drove under influence of etomidate, killing woman in Geylang market in 2025, charged

Muhammad Shafiq Razali, 41, was charged in Singapore on Sept 2 over an alleged crash in the Geylang night market in July 2025 that killed a woman. Prosecutors say he drove a rental car into a market stall, causing fatal injuries to a 67-year-old attendant at the scene. He faces seven charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving causing death as a serious offender, driving without a valid licence, and dangerous driving as a serious offender. The prosecution sought bail of S$100,000, arguing it could face 15 to 16 years’ imprisonment and a 20 to 23-year driving disqualification. Court documents allege he was driving on etomidate.
