Meta is allegedly deleting LGBTQ business Instagram accounts
xCruzo Brief
A Los Angeles lingerie brand says Meta has allegedly removed its Instagram business account and temporarily suspended the owner’s personal Facebook without warning. Cantiq, which told Mashable that Instagram was its top source of traffic and revenue, saw the account restored on Oct. 9 after being banned earlier in the month. Designer Chelsea Hughes said she could not even access Meta’s Business Manager while the account was down, and she believes the action reflected discriminatory AI tied to Meta’s plan to enforce content rules with advanced models. Other LGBTQ and plus-size-focused businesses in Los Angeles and Austin reported similar takedowns; Meta says it enforces policies regardless of account type.
