Mets Named 'Obvious Suitor' for Tarik Skubal by MLB Insider

The New York Mets are being flagged as one of the “obvious suitors” for free-agent starting pitcher Tarik Skubal this offseason, with ESPN insiders pointing to payroll and roster need as key drivers. ESPN’s Jeff Passan said the Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers are the two most likely landing spots, adding that Skubal may sign before the Dec. 1 lockout date. ESPN’s Jorge Castillo also called the Mets a serious favorite, arguing they’ll be more aggressive than the New York Yankees. Skubal, 29, enters free agency after a strong career split between the Tigers and Dodgers, posting a 66-44 record and a 3.02 ERA over 163 games.
