Mortgage Lenders With The Best Rates This Week: Led By Navy Federal At 6.25%
Forbes Advisor reported that mortgage lenders made relatively small rate changes this week, based on its latest review of 30-year fixed conventional mortgages. The analysis compares APRs, which include both interest rates and lender fees. The lowest APR found was 6,25%, while the top 10 lenders offered rates up to 7,25%. Rates typically track moves in the 10-year Treasury yield, a benchmark linked to expectations for inflation, economic conditions, and Federal Reserve policy. Freddie Mac’s weekly averages show the 30-year fixed rate fell from above 7,00% in mid-January 2025 to the low- to mid-6% range by year-end, after three Federal Open Market Committee cuts. In 2026, mortgage rates have generally stayed in the low- a mid-6% range, with the average 30-year fixed rate dropping below 6,00% early in the year before rising later. The methodology uses lender APR data from websites, with sample inputs such as zip code 07030 and a 740 credit score.
