New Potential Energy-Rockefeller Foundation Study: Climate Support Strong Across Leading Democracies, But Words Matter

New climate communication study shows messaging matters as support for climate action remains robust across major democracies. Potential Energy Coalition, backed by the Rockefeller Foundation, surveyed more than 83,000 adults in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada after the G7 Summit, finding 64% believe pollution can be solved, versus 55% who think climate change can be solved. The study notes that framing matters: messages emphasizing pollution, health, affordability, energy independence, and protecting families lifted support by more than 10 percentage points in six G7 countries, while net zero and bans underperformed.
