The Avis 'circus' messed with the transports sector this year. Josh Brown finds the real Best Stocks in the space

Josh Brown’s Best Stocks in the Market highlights a resilient transport group despite earlier volatility from the Avis Budget short squeeze. The sector has risen about 43% over the past year, beating the S&P 500’s 29%, while the Avis episode briefly distorted the picture as the stock surged from roughly $100 to nearly $850 before dropping more than 70% on a dilutive offering. Excluding that move, freight and logistics names such as J.B. Hunt, Old Dominion, Ryder and Landstar posted solid gains on fundamentals. As of May 26, 183 names were on the Best Stocks list, with CSX, NSC, UNP, and XPO highlighted in the transport narrative.
