Whole Foods issues soup recall due to possible shrimp contamination
A recall has been issued for a Whole Foods Market soup after a container was found to contain shrimp in error. The FDA said Kettle Cuisine recalled 24-ounce containers of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup due to undeclared shrimp, which poses a serious risk for people with shellfish allergies. The recall was issued after an in-store discovery revealed one container held the incorrect soup. The affected products were sold in Whole Foods stores across 17 states and Washington, D.C., and online via Whole Foods and Amazon. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are urged to verify packaging details and avoid the product if shrimp allergy is present.
Customers who purchased the affected soup should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Kettle Cuisine said the issue was identified after an in-store discovery revealed one soup container held the incorrect product. The company noted that no other soup varieties or date codes are included in the recall. For questions, contact Kettle Cuisine at 617-409-1100 during weekday business hours. Refunds are issued at the point of purchase.
