NGX Market Cap Falls N1.33tn as ASI Sheds 0.82 Percent
Nigeria’s stock market closed Thursday with losses. The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) reported market capitalization falling by N1.334 trillion from N162.385 trillion at the open to N161.051 trillion at the close. The All-Share Index (ASI) also declined, dropping 2,054.25 points from 250,096.75 to 248,042.50, a 0.82% decrease. Market breadth was negative, with 32 stocks declining against 26 gainers. Among top performers, ETRANZACT rose 10.00%, LIVESTOCK gained 9.09%, GUINEAINS climbed 8.97%, LEARNAFRCA jumped 8.93%, and MULTITREX added 7.69%. Decliners included ETERNA (-10.00%), ARADEL (-10.00%), CUTIX (-9.02%), CMFC (-8.98%) and NPFMCRFBK (-8.70%). The report suggests bearish momentum could persist as investors reassess positions after the sharp market-cap decline, though bargain-hunting may support fundamentally strong names if selling eases.
