Nigel Farage has received £270,000 from a gold marketer for which he serves as a brand ambassador, according to the latest UK parliamentary register of interests published Tuesday. The Direct Bullion payment, received in May, is described as his largest single payment as an MP and is double his fee from 2025. It follows previous criticism over a reported £400,000-a-year role promoting the idea that people should buy physical gold and put it in their pension pots. Farage is also under scrutiny over a separate £5m gift from Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based crypto investor who has given millions to Reform UK. Farage says the Direct Bullion payment was a gift and therefore did not need to be registered, but a parliamentary standards watchdog has opened a formal investigation.
