Nuclear Energy Stocks Rise on Surging Demand for Reliable Clean Power
Nuclear energy stocks are rising as demand for reliable, clean electricity grows and as policy and technology milestones improve the sector’s outlook. The update says nuclear can provide steady power around the clock, unlike weather-dependent renewables, and notes ongoing steps such as license extensions, approvals for new facilities, SMR (small modular reactor) progress, and plans to restart shut-down plants in the U.S. The U.S. Department of Energy awarded more than $94 million in cost-shared funding to eight companies to speed deployment of advanced Generation III+ SMRs, targeting new projects in the 2030s. The U.S. aims to lift nuclear generation from about 100 GW in 2024 to nearly 400 GW by 2050, while AI-driven data centers, reshoring, and EV adoption increase the need for firm power.
