OJK: Stocks Once Stuck at Rp 50 Are Finding New Market Prices
xCruzo Brief
Indonesia’s financial regulator (OJK) says the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s move to cut the minimum share trading price from Rp 50 to Rp 1 is starting to loosen “stuck” prices and improve liquidity. The IDX introduced the new Rp 1 floor on Sept. 28, allowing shares previously trapped at the Rp 50 minimum to trade below that level and form prices based more directly on supply and demand. OJK capital markets chief Hasan Fawzi said price discovery has begun for stocks that had shown no trading at the Rp 50 floor, with some names moving well below and then stabilizing—without automatically falling to Rp 1. The regulator expects more accurate reflection of listed companies’ fundamentals.
