Real Madrid lodge enquiry for Arsenal defender; move dependent on exits
Real Madrid remain active in the market for a central defender, with Arsenal’s Piero Hincapie emerging as a candidate. ESPN journalist Rodra reported that an enquiry has been made about the Ecuador international as Jose Mourinho looks to add another left-footed option who can play centrally and at left-back. Real Madrid have already strengthened their defense with Ibrahima Konate, but departures are expected to shape any further summer signings. Los Blancos have five central defenders available—Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Dean Huijsen, Raul Asencio and Konate—and are considering trimming the squad, with Asencio a potential exit. Real Madrid are willing to listen to offers for Asencio, and Mourinho has reportedly given the green light for his sale. Securing Hincapie could be costly: Arsenal completed his permanent transfer recently after activating an obligatory purchase clause from his Bayer Leverkusen loan, with the overall deal exceeding €50 million. Hincapie played a role in Arsenal’s Premier League-winning campaign and could also fit Mourinho’s tactical needs due to his versatility and left-footed profile.
