Reform UK promises £80bn of cuts to public spending

Reform UK says it would cut £80 billion in public spending over the next five years, focusing on welfare, net zero policies, overseas aid, and the size of the civil service. Speaking at the party conference in Birmingham, economic spokesman Robert Jenrick said he wants to cut taxes in Reform’s first Budget if it wins power, but that the plan would need to “earn the trust” of markets first. The bulk of the savings would come from reducing welfare by £50 billion—£10 billion from net zero programmes, £8 billion from cutting the civil service, and £7.1 billion by capping foreign aid. Labour called the approach “incredibly reckless,” warning it could endanger services like hospitals, schools and law enforcement.
