Repairs to begin on crumbling river wall in town centre
Repairs to begin on crumbling river wall in town centre as work is set to start following safety checks and vegetation clearing. Damage to the river wall at Westbury Gardens in Bradford on Avon was identified at the end of 2024, and a spokesperson for the town council attributed it to the “natural growth” of a London plane tree. The council fenced the area and later installed props in spring to support the wall, after announcing that repairs would follow. On July 9, the town council said contractors would begin as early as the following week, after wildlife checks and clearing nearby vegetation. The first phase will remove loose masonry, and an engineer will inspect the wall once that step is complete before further work proceeds. Updates are expected to be shared as soon as they are available.
