xCruzo Brief
Brewers Fayre has closed all 89 of its UK sites after more than 40 years on the high street, marking the end of the brand in the UK. The chain, founded in 1981, shut down on Monday, September 7, following a major restructuring plan by parent company Whitbread. Whitbread said it wants to refocus the business to deliver £250 million in savings. As part of the move, Beefeater, Cookhouse + Pub, Table Table and Bar + Block restaurants will also close. Whitbread plans to convert some restaurant locations into additional Premier Inn rooms and to sell about £1.5 billion of freehold properties to fund further expansion. It currently owns around 86,600 hotel rooms and targets 96,000 by the 2031 financial year.
