Revokes Marketing Authorisation For Valneva's Chikungunya Vaccine IXCHIQ; Shares Slide

Valneva said the UK regulator has revoked the marketing authorisation for its single-dose chikungunya vaccine, IXCHIQ, after a new benefit-risk review by the UK’s Commission on Human Medicines and a decision by the MHRA. The company stressed the action was based on reassessing previously available safety data and was not linked to any newly identified safety signal. Valneva disagrees with the conclusions but will not appeal, citing limited financial and commercial impact. IXCHIQ launched in the UK in mid-2025, but Valneva stopped active distribution several months ago due to low traveller demand. Valneva said EU, Canada, Brazil and other existing licenses are unaffected.
