Rolls-Royce Stop Helped Unravel a $13 Million Crypto Scheme, Reports Say
Rolls‑Royce stop helped investigators connect a Canadian man to a federal cryptocurrency case involving more than $13 million in stolen assets. Trenton Richard David Johnston, 20, has pleaded guilty to a money‑laundering conspiracy in U.S. District Court in Miami, per CryptoBriefing citing court records. The DOJ said Johnston and others impersonated support representatives from a major search engine and crypto‑related companies to access victims’ digital accounts and wallets. Losses exceeded $13 million, with more victims still being identified. Prosecutors said illicit proceeds funded luxury cars, jewelry, and nightlife, and investigators later seized devices linking Johnston to the scheme after a March traffic stop involving a Rolls‑Royce Cullinan.
