RTX: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors
RTX highlighted three themes from its Oct. 20, 2026, third-quarter earnings call as it raised its full-year adjusted sales outlook to $97 billion–$97.5 billion. Management pointed first to defense contracts: Raytheon converted major military framework agreements into $70 billion of undefinitized contracts tied to systems including Tomahawk cruise missiles and AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, extending demand visibility across the defense segment. Second, commercial engine orders are expected to support long-term aftermarket revenue; Collins cited organic aftermarket growth of 16% and Pratt & Whitney adding over 800 Geared Turbofan (GTF) orders and commitments year to date, bringing the backlog to over 8,000 engines. Third, Collins’ operational efficiency and cost cuts are supporting margins, including indirect labor reductions. RTX also reiterated expectations for top-line and bottom-line growth with improved operating margins and strong free cash flow.
