Sales round up: Texels to 3,800gns, new Cotswolds record, Blue Texels hit 2,800gns

Recent UK livestock markets showed strong price peaks for Texel sheep and record numbers in several categories. At Junction 36, Texel sheep topped at 3,800gns with a pre-sale champion gimmer shearling from Peter Woof’s Stainton flock in Kendal, selling to Alan Blackwood’s Auldhouseburn flock. The next-highest was Teiglum Input at 3,000gns, while other sellers included R. and E. Ladds at 2,600gns and J. Woodburn and Partners at 2,300gns. Auction averages included 20 shearling rams at £1,231.13 and 79 gimmer shearlings at £898.48. Calves at Market Drayton averaged £469 from 705 head, with two lots topping at £1,000.
