Sensex jumps over 375 points in early trade, Nifty tops 24,100 on IT stocks, lower crude
Indian markets rose in early trading on Thursday, with the Sensex gaining 377.40 points and the Nifty climbing above 24,100, supported by softer crude oil prices and buying in large-cap IT stocks. The BSE Sensex advanced to 77,269.54 in early trade, up 377.40 points, while the NSE Nifty increased 106.70 points to 24,113.25. Stocks including Infosys, HCL Tech, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Eternal and InterGlobe Aviation were among the notable gainers, while NTPC, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro and Bharat Electronics lagged. Brent crude fell 1% to $70.79 per barrel. Analysts linked sentiment to improving near-term conditions, including easing crude and strong June auto sales estimated at nearly 4 lakh units, alongside tapering FII selling. In Asia, South Korea’s Kospi was down over 4% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell more than 1%.
