Zillow’s analysis shows starter homes priced above $1 million in three Colorado municipalities: Cherry Hills Village at an average of $2.2 million, Bow Mar at $1.64 million, and Columbine Valley at $1.2 million. In the Denver metro area, starter homes average about $405,573, while nationally there are 242 cities with starter homes above $1 million, up from 80 in February 2020. California leads with 105 such markets, followed by New York and New Jersey, reflecting a pandemic-driven surge in entry costs that broadened beyond coastal markets. Colorado joined the ranks with three million-dollar-plus starter markets, up from one in 2020.
