Global stock markets rose on Monday after oil prices and Treasury yields gave back part of last week’s gains. In the U.S., the S&P 500 was up 0.6% and was within 1.3% of its all-time high set last month. The Dow gained 224 points (0.4%) and the Nasdaq added 0.8% by 9:35 a.m. Eastern. Brent crude fell 3.1% to $100.62 a barrel, easing pressure from higher borrowing costs. The yield on the 10-year Treasury slipped to 4.96% from 5.01% late Friday, after briefly crossing 5%.
