Stocks Recover From Early Weakness, Dow Moves Sharply Higher
xCruzo Brief
After early weakness on Thursday, major U.S. stock indexes recovered as the session progressed. The Dow rose 508.68 points, or 1%, to 52,130.16, supported by gains in Nike, Salesforce, and UnitedHealth. The S&P 500 climbed 5.92 points, or 0.1%, to 7,724.86, while the Nasdaq remained down 104.13 points, or 0.4%, at 26,588.74 after earlier falling to its lowest intraday level in nearly a month. The morning slide was driven by renewed concerns about AI-related debt, with investors reacting to signs that Anthropic’s third-quarter revenue may not be growing as fast as expected. The rebound also coincided with Treasury yields dropping to a three-week low after September producer prices rose less than feared.
