Stocks swing Wall Street closer to its record | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Wall Street moved closer to its all-time record on Tuesday, led by gains in artificial intelligence-linked stocks. The S&P 500 rose 0.6% and finished within 1.2% of its peak from earlier this month. The Nasdaq climbed 1.2%, while the Dow added 15 points (under 0.1%). Although most S&P 500 constituents fell, advances in major AI names outweighed the losses. Broadcom jumped 4% after a $63 billion financing deal aimed at helping Anthropic access Broadcom’s XPU AI accelerators. Nvidia rose 0.9%, and CoreWeave surged 7.9%. General Motors gained 5.5% after moving its NYSE listing to Nasdaq. Travel also helped: JetBlue rose 19% despite a bigger-than-expected summer loss, with CEO Joanna Geraghty projecting sustained operating profits next year and at least $1 EPS in 2028. Royal Caribbean climbed 5.5% after stronger summer profit and an increased full-year forecast. Boeing fell 10.7%, Hilton declined 2.1%, and overall investors remain focused on profit growth amid inflation and high rates.
