Strictly judge Anton Du Beke shares Sussex dance roots in memoir
xCruzo Brief
Anton Du Beke says he has a “big relationship with Sussex” ahead of the release of his debut memoir. The Strictly Come Dancing star, originally from Sevenoaks in Kent, will bring the show that accompanies the book, Steps in Time, to Congress Theatre in Eastbourne on 28 October. In a Q&A format, the production revisits stories and memories from his life before Strictly. Du Beke told BBC Radio Sussex that his first “real dance teachers,” Bill and Sylvia Mitchell from Rottingdean in East Sussex, were influential, with weekly lessons in Hove for “must’ve been 20 years.” He also links his judging strength to 16 years’ experience on the panel.
