Supermarkets recall cheese from shelves which poses serious risk to over 65s

A recall of Dunnes Stores Velvety & Mild French Brie was issued after tests detected Listeria monocytogenes, posing a serious risk to people aged 65 and older. The affected cheese is sold by Traditional Cheese Company and distributed through Dunnes Stores. The Food Standards Agency warned that Listeria infection can mimic flu with fever, muscle aches, vomiting, diarrhea, and in rare cases meningitis, particularly dangerous for older adults, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. Retailers will display point-of-sale notices explaining the recall and return process; customers should not eat the product and can obtain a full refund by returning it to the place of purchase.
