Support for businesses taking public stances on issues drops: Gallup

Support for companies taking public stances on current events has dipped, according to a Gallup poll. Forty-seven percent of 3,270 respondents said businesses should take a stance, down from 51% in 2025 but up from 38% in 2024. The survey, part of Gallup’s annual Business in Society research with Bentley University, was conducted in May and has a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points. Overall, 53% said businesses should not speak out publicly, matching the median result of five similar Gallup-Bentley questions. Gallup also reports a partisan split: 62% of Democrats support stances versus 45% of independents and fewer than 30% of Republicans.
