Suvendu Adhikari accuses CPIM, Mamata's TMC of alliance to bring back 'anarchy' in Bengal
Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari threatened on Saturday to reopen criminal cases tied to the 2007 Nandigram violence and the 2001 Choto Angaria massacre, accusing CPIM and Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress of forming an alliance to bring back “anarchy” in the state. Speaking at a “Save Democracy” meeting in Garbeta in Paschim Medinipur district, he said closeness between CPIM leader M A Baby and Banerjee has pushed both parties together. Adhikari claimed CPIM is trying to regain a political foothold by exploiting divisions within TMC after Bengal assembly elections. He also warned his government would pursue alleged attackers who traveled from the CPIM office in Garbeta to launch an armed attack in Nandigram during the 2007 agitation. He cited security steps since taking office in May and predicted setbacks for CPIM and TMC in civic polls in Kolkata and Howrah.
