Swiss Market Ends On Firm Note As Stocks Rise On Late Buying
Switzerland’s stock market closed higher on Monday, ending a period of weakness with brisk late buying in multiple sectors. The SMI benchmark, which had slipped to 13,706.29 around noon, finished the session up 74.49 points, or 0.54%, at 13,848.51, its day’s high. VAT Group rose 3%, while Sandoz Group gained about 2.25%. ABB and Novartis climbed roughly 1.7%, and several insurers including Zurich Insurance, Swiss Life Holding, and Helvetia Baloise Holding added between 1.1% and 1.4%. Gains were also reported across a broader set of names such as Julius Baer, Swiss Re, UBS Group, Kuehne + Nagel, Galderma Group, Amrize, and Straumann Holding, though Partners Group fell 1.7%. SGS declined 1.1%, while Logitech, Richemont, Holcim, Geberit, and Roche ended lower between 0.3% and 0.8%.
