Taylor Farms Expands Iceberg Lettuce Recall to 27 States
Taylor Farms expanded its iceberg lettuce recall to retailers in 27 states after the product was linked to potential cyclospora contamination, the company said late Friday. The investigation cited by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention connected the parasite to lettuce Taylor Farms shipped to Taco Bell locations in five states, but Taylor’s notice indicates broader distribution. The recall covers iceberg lettuce shipped to stores from June 29 through as recently as Thursday, with expiration dates through August 3. Taylor listed eight brand codes but did not explain what they represent, and it said no Taylor Farms-branded salad kits were involved. The FDA noted it does not require companies to publicly provide distribution details, a point food safety advocates have criticized.
