Urgent recall of cheese sold in Irish supermarket as 'do not eat' warning issued

An urgent recall has been issued for a cheese sold by Lidl in Ireland after authorities warned consumers not to eat it due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said a batch of Deluxe Spanish Castellano Sheeps' Cheese was being withdrawn because it contains the harmful disease-causing bacterium. The warning was issued on Friday, targeting a 150 gram pack with batch code 100534252. The product’s use-by date is 08/11/2026 and it is sourced from Spain. The regulator said recall notices will be displayed at points of sale in Lidl stores, and retailers have been asked to remove the implicated batch and post the notices. Consumers were advised not to consume the recalled batch.
