Whitney Houston's Bodyguard Shares His Version of Oprah Taping Incident
Ray Watson, the longtime bodyguard of Whitney Houston, shared his account of the moment the singer fell during her 2009 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Speaking to TMZ’s Charlie Neff, Watson said Houston was not intoxicated at the time, explaining that she approached the front edge of the stage and could not see the boundary. He added that the edge was in a dark spot and someone had attempted to alert her, but the warning did not land. Watson also said Houston laughed off the stumble. His version conflicts with Oprah’s claim that Houston was “high,” as reported by the article. The piece notes that Whitney’s estate is unhappy with the narrative and previously blamed the fall on the poorly lit stage, though Watson does not believe Oprah necessarily owes an apology unless she admits it was wrong.
