Wilshire cattle complex as big as a supermarket approved
xCruzo Brief
A cattle complex on a scale described as larger than a supermarket has received approval despite more than 2,000 objections. Bodman Livestock Ltd, the owner of Whyr Farm near Potterne in Devizes, applied to Wiltshire Council to build two large sheds intended to house hundreds of cattle. Council officers said the plan would bring “significant economic and agricultural benefits” and help ensure the “long-term sustainability of an established farming business.” However, campaigner Dr Sean Barrs said he was disappointed, telling the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the public does not want animal farming to expand.
