Woman arrested after blocking delivery robot in Philadelphia confrontation
A Philadelphia woman was arrested after a dispute with an Uber delivery robot was captured on video near Reading Terminal Market. Police said officers responded to the 1200 block of Filbert Street after witnesses reported a disturbance involving Carolyn Marvin and the robot. Authorities allege Marvin repeatedly blocked the robot’s path and ignored multiple commands to move. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Marvin said she was protesting the use of delivery robots, arguing they replace human workers, and that her actions are protected speech. She also referenced a September incident on Broad Street. Ashley Baldwin, who witnessed one confrontation, said she initially thought the robot hit Marvin, but Marvin insisted she was stopping the robot.
