Absurd' to suggest Dublin stabbing accused did not intend to kill, jury told | BreakingNews
A prosecuting barrister told the Central Criminal Court in Dublin that it would be “absurd” to suggest that Riad Bouchaker, charged over the attempted murder of three children, did not intend to kill. Bouchaker, 52, with “no fixed address,” faces charges including attempted murder of two girls and one boy, and assault causing serious harm to care worker Leanne Flynn in Parnell Square East on November 23, 2023. The jury heard that the prosecution case had closed, and the defense would not call evidence, with the judge emphasizing Bouchaker’s right not to give evidence. Barrister Karl Finnegan SC argued that CCTV, eyewitness accounts and the injuries conflict with a defense position about lack of intent, including statements made after the stabbing. The defense contends there is insufficient evidence for parts of the attempted murder charges.
