Ahmed Gadalla Sues George Clooney's Watchdog Over $300M Fraud and Russian Mercenary Allegations
xCruzo Brief
Libyan steel magnate Ahmed Gadalla has filed defamation proceedings against The Sentry, the investigative group co-founded by George Clooney, disputing allegations of $300 million (£226.3 million) in loans and possible Russian mercenary funding. The case, reported to have surfaced on 19 October, also challenges claims that Gadalla helped finance military commander Khalifa Haftar’s failed 2019 offensive against Tripoli. Gadalla says The Sentry published an “entire narrative” he calls false and did not properly check it, including refusing to publish his response. The Sentry says it sought comment from Gadalla, his companies and relevant banks before publication.
