Alabama football offensive line still waiting for 'best five' to emerge

Alabama offensive line coach Ryan Grubb says the Crimson Tide is still waiting to settle on its “best five” starting linemen—something Alabama didn’t have the luxury of in 2025. Speaking after Alabama’s second fall-camp practice on Thursday, Aug. 6, Grubb acknowledged injuries and the need for adjustments mean that ideal isn’t realistic right now, but he wants the line to sync quickly with the quarterback decision. Left tackle Jackson Lloyd is set, with Racin Delgatty at center and Michael Carroll at right guard. Right tackle reps are contested between Texas transfer Nick Brooks and Mississippi State transfer Jayvin James.
