Alyssa Thomas reveals she's faced death threats in wake of Caitlin Clark incident

Alyssa Thomas said she has received death threats and racial slurs after the controversial incident involving Caitlin Clark, speaking to reporters on Tuesday. The Phoenix Mercury forward was suspended one game for a play against the Indiana Fever last week, in which Thomas appeared to thrust her fist into Clark’s neck while both players were on the ground, and also appeared to knee Clark in the groin. Although no foul was assessed in-game, the WNBA imposed the one-game suspension amid the growing dispute. Thomas described the incident as a “complete accident,” but focused her remarks on the hostility directed at her and the perceived lack of support from commissioner Cathy Engelbert. She also alleged safety concerns, including reports of leaked addresses and harmful images, while the WNBA said “safety and well-being” is its top priority. Reports also cited alleged text exchanges between Thomas and Engelbert.
