Arkansas Basketball Coach John Calipari Was 'Embarrassed' to Approach Taylor Swift at NBA Finals

Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Calipari said he was “embarrassed” to approach Taylor Swift during Game 4 of the NBA Finals earlier this year. Speaking on the “Eye on College Basketball” podcast at the 2026 SEC media days, the 67-year-old Hall of Famer recalled spotting Swift, 36, chatting courtside in the bowels of Madison Square Garden with Adam Sandler and his wife, Jackie. Calipari admitted he hesitated while pretending to be busy on his phone when she came over. He noted Sandler, 60, would later officiate Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce, 37, a month afterward on July 3 at MSG. Calipari also recounted his own rush to meet President Barack Obama at the White House in 2012.
