Arkansas State got its first win of the season in a 52-7 rout of West Georgia on Saturday night at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro. Entering as a heavy favorite, the Red Wolves took charge in the second quarter by stringing together 21 straight points. After allowing 42 points in last week’s loss at Memphis, Arkansas State’s defense improved dramatically, forcing four turnovers, including two returned for touchdowns. Noah Flores returned a fumble 70 yards for a score late in the first half, and Five Hamilton brought back a 91-yard interception for a touchdown less than four minutes into the second half. On offense, the team converted its final two turnovers into 10 more points. Running accounted for 65.5% of Arkansas State’s production, with 256 rushing yards on 391 total.
