The match was tightly contested through the first half, with early chances for Juventus including a long-range effort by Manuel Locatelli that went just wide, and Chelsea responding with several threats on possession. Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio made a key save in the 29th minute to deny Jamie Gittens. After halftime substitutions, Edon Zhegrova scored the decisive goal in the 67th minute, cutting inside and firing an unstoppable left-footed curler into the far top corner.
