Boy is hailed a hero for saving men who fell from inflatable toy boat
Boy is hailed a hero for saving men who fell from inflatable toy boat, after Archie Law, 15, rescued two people who entered the sea from an outboard-powered inflatable dinghy. The incident occurred shortly after 9:00pm on June 20 off Broadford Bay on the Isle of Skye, following reports to UK Coastguard of two men in difficulty. A lifeboat crew from Kyle of Lochalsh launched within 10 minutes, but they discovered that Archie had already gone out in his own Pioneer dinghy, spotted the distress from shore using binoculars, and pulled both men to safety. The article says the men were in an orange inflatable craft without lifejackets and wearing flip-flops, and that the rescues averted a “more serious situation” with no injuries reported. Archie was back fishing by 6am the next day. It also includes an RNLI reminder that inflatable toys should be kept for swimming pools, with lifejackets and reliable communication to emergency services.
