Bristol Harbour clean-up group celebrates 10 years of odd finds
xCruzo Brief
A volunteer clean-up group in Bristol Harbour is marking its 10th year of hauling out odd debris, including an inflatable doll and a Nintendo Switch. Clean Up Bristol Harbour was launched in September 2016 to tackle plastic pollution around Bristol’s waterways. Founder and Bristol resident Chloe Juyon said the finds are unpredictable, but the effort has a serious aim—getting volunteers onto the water where rubbish can’t be reached from the harbourside. The group was later taken on by All Aboard Watersports. Between 2021 and 2023, 236 volunteers removed more than 880kg of waste, with almost 390kg sent for recycling. The project’s funding is ending, prompting a Crowdfunder bid seeking an initial £5,000.
