A British soccer fan identified as Michael Hewitt, 65, was reported to have “vanished” after missing his flight to the U.S. while traveling in Spain, triggering a major international search. Hewitt, also nicknamed “Little Mick,” became stuck during an extended layover in Barcelona after losing his phone and plane tickets. His family in England grew alarmed after he stopped contacting them. Instead of going to the embassy, he continued sightseeing and watched England matches in bars, without knowing phone numbers. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Interpol helped locate him. After ten days, the British Embassy in Spain tracked him to his hotel through digital payments. He had been scheduled to attend England vs Ghana in Boston on June 23.
